Devonté Hynes to make his Broadway composing debut on JOB
Devonté Hynes – AKA Blood Orange – has been announced to compose original music for Max Wolf Friedlich’s play JOB.
The forthcoming play begins performances at the Hayes Theatre from 30 July, following an off-Broadway run which started last year at SoHo Playhouse, before it moved to the Connelly Theatre for a second run. The psychological thriller written by Max Wolf Friedlich and directed by Michael Herwitz is centered around an employee of a big tech company who’s placed on leave after she becomes the subject of a viral video and, determined to regain the job that gives her life meaning, seeks the help of a crisis therapist.
“Anyone familiar with Dev’s work already knows what a naturally brilliant storyteller he is,” producer Hannah Getts said in a statement, “so it’s no surprise that his work on JOB not only enriches the thematic and narrative threads but also deepens the emotional resonance of the play.”
Performances will begin on 15 July before the official opening on 30 July. For more information, visit newyorktheatreguide.com.
