Aaron Dessner on working with Taylor Swift: "I picked up a focus"
Aaron Dessner has discussed working with Taylor Swift in the studio, revealing that he "picked up a focus" while making music with her.
The National's Aaron Dessner, who worked with Swift on her Folklore and Evermore albums, as well as songs from the re-recorded versions of Fearless and Red, has spoken about what he learned from working with Swift in a new interview with The i. He said, "Even just working with Taylor, she's a brilliant musician and so experienced in terms of making records, so I was learning from her – I picked up a focus, and also just the joy that she has."
Dessner said of working on Swift's music during the pandemic, "It was almost like I was in some crazy boot camp for making a tonne of music really fast and fully producing it and then it would be released quickly."
He also revealed that he thinks they "will continue to be in each other’s artistic and personal lives. I don't know exactly what the next form that will take, but certainly, it will continue."
Later today (22 August) The National will release their new Bon Iver collaboration "Weird Goodbyes".
