Le Groupe Obscur delivers French fantasy psych-pop on debut track “Piȼedelula”
“Piȼedelula” is the whimsical first single plucked from Le Groupe Obscur's forthcoming EP.
Parisian label Midnight Special Records' latest recruit lives up to their name, presenting a mystical aesthetic with face paints and home-made surrealist costumes. They sing in both French and L'Obscurien: a made-up tribal language drawn from the fictitious island they inhabit. In real life, the five-piece hail from Brittany in North West France, where they played a home-town set at Trans Musicales in Rennes last year.
The swirling distorted echoes and dreamy melodies of “Piȼedelula” are an on-brand mystical taste of what's to come from Le Groupe Obscur on their EP, due out early next year.
