Girl Ray tick every festive box on jingly jam "(I Wish I Were Giving You A Gift) This Christmas"
North London three-piece Girl Ray are bringing the Yuletide spirit on new single "(I Wish I Were Giving You A Gift) This Christmas".
It's got all you'd want from a proper Christmassy belter - it's got brass by the bucketload, the faint jangle of sleigh bells, heart by the metric tonne, and even a blimmin' choir of children. Apparently it also features the "hidden whinny of a kidnapped reindeer" - whether that's strictly true or not doesn't diminish the immensely festive aura that Girl Ray have crafted.
"Christmas is great and everything but where are the indie bangers?" says the band's Sophie Moss (they're here in our annual Ho! Ho! Ho! Canada playlist/free download, FYI). "We've pulled it all out the stocking on this one. You'd be a fool not to buy one for every family member, friend, and tinder acquaintance this Christmas."
The smooth number comes hot on the heels of acclaimed debut long-player Earl Grey, which was an Album Of The Week back in July.
Girl Ray have also announced a new series of UK shows for next April, beginning at Bristol's under-fire venue Thekla on 10 April and ending at The Haunt in Brighton on 19 April. Find out more.
