London soul-pop trio Years & Years take it down a few relative notches with “Eyes Shut”, the b-side to the excellently, aggressively upbeat “Real”.
From the old school downtempo RnB backbeat through to the ambient interlude and synth-filled crescendo – and with Olly Alexander’s elegiac croon center stage – Years & Years continue to define their place in the soul-saturated London electro-pop landscape.
Years & Years released their second EP Real on 17 February on Kitsuné and available through iTunes, featuring the eponymous single, a handful of remixes and its equal and opposite companion, “Eyes Shut”.
