Have you heard this new song from French pop savant Petite Meller? It’s called “Baby Love”.
If you’ve heard it, there’s a good chance you'd remember; like The Supremes song of the same name, it’s very good, and it’s very catchy. It’s got this piano riff that feels like it picks up right where The Rapture left off. It’s got this huge disco-gospel chorus that sounds like the Gibb brothers conducting a Sunday morning choir. It’s got an absolutely joyous horn solo that's probably the clearest favorite for “Best Use of a Saxophone” since “Midnight City”.
"Baby Love" is described as the "most hedonistic party song to date" and Meller wanted to make "a colourful video set in Africa" (all quotes from press release). It's easily the best pop song I’ve heard in 2015, but the video, well, we'll leave that up to you...
