Synth-pop songstress RALPH chases a happy ending on “Busy Man”
“Busy Man” is the new single from Toronto-based singer RALPH (real name Raffa Weyman).
RALPH sounds like the best possible outcome of a Haim sister going solo: clever pop with a groovy bassline and heartfelt lyrics. “Busy Man” is more laid back than her previous releases, but nonetheless beguiling for it. It’s an ode to waiting for the phone to ring, packed with bittersweet excuses and a sprinkle of disco influence.
”We’ve all fallen for a “busy” man/woman, who bails on plans and doesn’t call back,” shares RALPH. “”Busy Man” is about vulnerability but it's also about personal strength.”
RALPH’s writing draws inspiration from wide-ranging sources, with preceding single “Something More” based on Netflix show Master of None. Her forthcoming EP promises to include “Busy Man” alongside previous releases in a package of contemporary pop perfection.
