Melbourne's Ecca Vandal lobs a pure pop curveball called "End Of Time" [Premiere]
Melbourne-based, South Africa-born artist Ecca Vandal is streaming new single "End Of Time" on Best Fit.
"End Of Time" follows the explosive "Father Hu$$la", which we said "merges mid-'00s pop with experimental electronics, nu-metal, and grime... Vandal's ceaseless charisma and fascinating experiments force you to hang on every beat."
Co-produced and co-written by Vandal and Kidnot, "End Of Time" is a swerve away from the distorted guitars and bolshy rap bravado. Instead, we see Vandal lunge into slick dance synths and throbbing club beats, once again lobbing a curveball. This one's hook-rich and poised to infect the airwaves - it's pure pop brilliance.
Speaking about the new single, Vandal says: “It’s about being committed to something for life… no matter how unattainable it is, no matter how much you sacrifice. And that thing that takes hold of you can be a blessing and curse."
Inspired by disparate sources such as Bjork, Miles Davis, Mr Bungle, Fugazi, Deftones, and Meshuggah, Vandal seeks to forgo niches and create what she wants, irrespective of conventions or borders.
"End Of Time" is released 27 November via Island/Dew Process. It's taken from her upcoming debut record, expected during 2016.
