Låpsley, the alter-ego of Liverpudlian teenager Holly Fletcher, has removed the chains from new effort "Falling Short".
Replete with silken soul-infused vocals, it's an invigorating cut that veers towards pop's current fragile emotional state. There are twangs of Sam Smith in the tender balladry, but on the whole, Fletcher unfurls a track that lingers in its own league. Laced with pitch-shifted bass harmonies and electro snap, crackle and pop, Fletcher provides invention within an untapped depth of feeling.
The track will be a part of the Annie Mac Presents 2014 LP.
