Francobollo mediate on the age of social media on "We’re Dead"
Following on from 2017’s excellent full-length Long Live Life and previous single "Hoo-Ha", Francobollo’s "We’re Dead" is another psych-tinged indie banger that proves guitar music still has plenty of life in it.
Partially reminiscent of early purveyors of the loud/quiet dynamic, such as The Pixies, "We’re Dead" takes a swipe at the age of social media. Lyrics such as "We do it when we’re bored, we can’t afford to take the time / 'Cause everybody knows that you’re supposed to be online (all the time)" reflect the unhealthy obsession our generation has with the online world and Francobollo’s concerns with the way things are going.
"'We're Dead' is a meditation on the state of the human brain and its qualities in the modern world," Explains vocalist/guitarist Simon Nilsson. "Maybe I'm just speaking for myself and my surroundings, but it feels like our brains are slowly dying...We need to feed it with good shit, basically."
On their plans for 2018, Simon adds: "Our plan this year is to finish our second album, start on a third and keeping on releasing music. We've got more shows and festivals booked in across Europe and UK, including our next London headline at Omeara. All about the music baby."
