In his latest incarnation, multi-talented maverick Holm has found a winning formula
On "Hope", Mikkel Holm-Silkjær has created an exhilarating explosion of uplifting energy. He has further proven his impressive ability to write music that is completely refreshing and undoubtedly his own whilst still carrying all the characteristics of something that is immediately striking and familiar.
Having previously worked with the likes of Yung, Brooch, Tears and Urban Achievers, Holm's latest project is a wholly solo affair, where he has written, played, produced and mixed the whole thing on his own - no mean feat for any 23-year-old. The independent nature of the track allows his spotaneity and unmistakable songwriting style to take centre stage and shine onwards.
"Hope" jangles in with its twanging guitars that float alongside Holm's raw vocals, but then a bright sparkling guitar riff splices through the centre and there's a huge beautiful eruption of uplifting and epiphanic sound. The song is a euphoric statement of the Danish artist's talent for creating something that carries both glittering melodic phrasing as well as an infectiously reckless attitude.
It comes as an introduction to his debut EP for Tough Love Records, a four track project entitled Dappled which is due for release on 4 May, and if this is anything to go by, it's going to be a truly exciting affair and we can't wait to hear more.
