A section of Taylor Swift’s re-recording of “Look What You Made Me Do” debuted in the latest episode of Hulu's The Handmaid’s Tale, offering the biggest preview yet of Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

An excerpt from the re-recorded track appears at the start of Season 6, Episode 9 of the series, which aired this week on Hulu. The updated version includes re-recorded vocals from Swift and new production that mirrors the original track’s eerie and synth-heavy sound.

Executive producer and star of the Emmy-winning series, Elisabeth Moss, described the moment as “a long time coming.” Speaking to Billboard, Moss explained that she had been hoping to include a Taylor Swift song in the series, and credited editor Wendy Hallam Martin for selecting the track for this episode. “There could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” she said.

Released back in August 2017, “Look What You Made Me Do” was the lead single from Swift’s polarising sixth studio album, Reputation. Released in August 2017, “Look What You Made Me Do” led the rollout for Reputation, an album that marked a sharp turn in Swift’s public image, embracing a dark, media-savvy persona in response to public scrutiny. But beneath the surface, Reputation also traced her retreat from the spotlight, ultimately revealing a return to softness, trust, and a safe space away from the noise. Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is one of only two re-recordings remaining unreleased, along with her self-titled 2006 debut.

With the American Music Awards swiftly approaching on 26 May, fan theories are swirling across social media, as Swifties watch closely for a formal release date. For now, the sync offers the most evident sign yet that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) may be next.
