Alternative media heavyweights, VICE have acquired UK style publication i-D Magazine.
The fashion, art, music and culture monthly was founded by former Vogue art director Terry Jones in 1980.
i-D currently boosts a 90,000 print circulation, which VICE Media will use as a launchpad into the fashion market.
The buyers made the announcement on their website yesterday:
“On December 18, 2012, VICE acquired the iconic style publication, i-D. The deal will allow the two of us to commence a beautiful partnership, and to get on with the important business of siring the future of fashion.
i-D founder Terry Jones and his wife Tricia will remain partners and shareholders in i-D, as well as staying on in their current roles as creative visionaries.”
Jones said it was ”the beginning of an incredibly exciting chapter in i-D’s history.”
i-D Magazine is currently sold for £6 per issue, while VICE’s print mag circulates as a free publication.
