Nadia Kadek lets go of unrealistic expectations in her atmospheric new single “Feeling It All”
The latest signee to Transgressive Records blends minimalist production and intimate lyricism in a compelling debut.
Soft picking of an acoustic guitar frames 22-year-old Nadia Kadek’s silky vocal line in “Feeling It All”, her voice echoing across the soundscape with a fragile vibrato. The nostalgic piece soothes with its warm instrumental fusion of quivering synthesizer and soft piano, submerging listeners into an otherworldy atmospheric haze. With Kadek’s exploratory lyrics on full display, the innate simplicity of the song is its power.
"Feeling It All" pays tribute to the perspective shift that occurs as we enter adulthood. It’s the melancholy of moving on, a feeling all of us can relate to. “Writing ‘Feeling It All’ helped me process the realism of growing up, letting go of the idealistic expectations of childhood and forgiving yourself for having them in the first place," Kadek shares.
"The day after I started writing the song, my close friend and collaborator, Matt Ingram, convinced me we should finish it together and I feel like that process really put me on the path to finding my other songs. I recorded it to tape later on and that captured a very intimate and honest performance.”
Raised in the quiet countryside of Norfolk, British-Indonesian Nadia Kadek was grazed on artists like Florence and the Machine and Lizzy McAlpine; a self proclaimed "festival baby". Her draw toward live instrumentation inspired her to leave her small town and follow her dreams in the city of London. The sparse beauty of her hometown lives on in her music, and the naturally captivating sound has snagged her spots in lineups for The Great Escape and Pitchfork London, among others.
