Courtney Love prepping solo album Died Blonde and new memoirs
A new album, book, tour and Fall Out Boy video cameo, Courtney Love is a very busy woman at the moment.
Now performing under her not-technically-birth-name again, the Hole frontwoman told Billboard that she has 8 songs recorded and the album is due for release in early 2014.
Love told her publication about a couple of the new songs, including ‘Wedding Day’ and ’California’, quoted as saying:
“‘Wedding Day’s, like, two minutes and 59 seconds. It’s a perfect punk song. I wish I had written it when I was 19. And ‘California’ is my final bid to write the perfect California song, and I think I did. the first line is ‘All the lawyers are disbarred/And they’ve just declined your black card.’ It’s like a really, really tight punk-pop song and it’s almost got — I hate saying this, ’cause I grew up with these guys and I never thought I would say this in my life — a little bit of a (Red Hot Chili) Peppers tinge to it, a little teeny twink of that. But I don’t let loose on it. There’s no screaming dynamic, quiet-loud, quiet-loud thing. It’s a smooth song.”
The grunge singer also goes on to mention a bit about the book, coming out via Harper Lee, adding: “you’d think I was the Virgin Mary from his book so far — but that doesn’t mean there’s not juicy parts in it. It’s just juicy parts about ME, not other people.”
