Stream Mont Oliver's 19 EP and read their Track-by-Track guide

The Copenhagen-based outfit have already spilled two tracks, "19" and "White Sheets", but now you can listen to the full short-player.

Read lead singer Jakob's words on the tracks below.

"19"

"19 came together while I was messing around with my sampler. I was digging through some string arrangements from a few old Billie Holiday albums, when suddenly after pitching and reversing Billie, the 19 chorus was right in front of me. I didn’t use the sample, but it inspired me to make the chorus and the rest of the song basically shaped itself from there."

"White Sheets"

"Most of the songs from the EP were written in my old apartment. White Sheets was the first song I wrote for the project. I had this chorus that wasn’t quite right yet, but then I got an idea to pitch down my vocals, and that gave the track the exact street attitude I was looking for."

"Nobody Knows"

"I remember sitting alone at my dining table with a sore neck from looking down at all the material I had found, although nothing seemed right. I started singing a lick: Nobody knows, over and over again, and that became the song, a hypnotic and repetitious vibe. The last day of mixing we told our mixer to play a jazz piano solo in the outro, and he did one take that fit perfectly."

"Golden Glow"

"I had this song but it was way too sweet to me. Niels Christian came up with the idea to add a dark horn, and that provided the depth and melancholy that the track needed. We always enjoy playing around with beats and classical music in the band. The mix of the two different worlds: Orchestral and minimal is fun to explore."
