BBC Radio 4 to broadcast 'Women In Music' special of Woman's Hour
BBC Radio 4‘s female-orientated daily programme, Woman’s Hour is to be hosted by 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne this weekend, with the host helming discussion based around the topic of ‘Women In Music’.
Laverne (pictured above) will be joined in the studio by Charlotte Church, who will be giving the BBC Radio 6 Music John Peel Lecture next week in Salford.
The pair will run through subjects such as the sexualised image of women in modern music, gender balance in the industry, plus Robin Thicke’s recent controversial video for ‘Blurred Lines’.
“I’m thrilled to be asked to present Radio 4′s Woman’s Hour for one day only, to pull apart the thorny subject of Women In Music,” the broadcaster and former Kenickie singer said in a press release. ”I’m looking forward to hearing Charlotte’s insights as a prelude to the 6 Music John Peel Lecture.”
The show will be aired on Saturday (12 October) from 4pm – 5pm. More detail on it can be found here.
