Watch: Sóley – Blue Leaves (Best Fit Session)
Reykjavik resident Sóley Stefánsdóttir has already forged a successful musical career as a member of the Icelandic indie-collective Seabear. Her solo debut We Sink is one of the most beautiful Nordic releases we’ve heard in 2011.
During our time in Reykjavik for Iceland Airwaves, we hooked up with Soley via Snorri Helgason, who we’d filmed a few days earlier. Soley met us in our hotel lobby and drove us a few miles out of Reykjavik to her house. While the weather outside went through every conceivable change (from sun to torrential rain to blistering gales and back to sun again), we were sequestered indoors, watching Soley at her piano for a heart-wrenching rendition of ‘Blue Leaves’.
Soley plays at the Ja Ja Ja club night at The Lexington in London tonight along with Finland’s French Films and Norway’s Marit Larson. Click here for further details.
