Watch: Summer Camp – Better Off Without You (Best Fit Session)
We’ve loved Summer Camp from the start. Ever since they emerged as “a band of seven girls from Dalarnas län, Sweden who met at a summer camp when they were 14″ – and then later, when the curtain was finally pulled back and they magically morphed into real life as the luminous, sweet duo we now know as Elizabeth and Jeremy – we followed them all the way.
We even helped put on their first live show back in March of last year and have fallen head-over-heels in hard love with the long-awaited, Steve Mackey-produced debut album Welcome to Condale, which drops this Hallowe’en.
So a session with Summer Camp is something just a little bit special for us.
A few days back we took them to the recent ‘In Bloom: The Nirvana Nevermind Exhibition’ – set up to mark twenty years of the legendary grunge record (reissued next week) – for a belting take on lead LP track ‘Better off Without You’. It’s the ultimate blow-off to the respective wastes-of-spaces that we’ve all, no doubt, hooked up with at some point in our lives as well as one of our songs of the year so far.
Welcome to Condale is released on 31 October through Moshi Moshi. The record was partly-funded through the Pledge Music site and you can head on over there to pre-order the vinyl or some of Elizabeth’s famous chocolate brownies.
