VC Pines announces forthcoming EP, Viole(n)t Colour
VC Pines has announced the forthcoming new EP, Viole(n)t Colour, and releases new single "Made 2 Luv" featuring Josie Man.
Speaking about the EP, he said, "I spent most of last year recovering from a mental crash-landing after dropping the MRI album without a manager, without a label, running two tours and burning out. A load of other sh*t happened when I came back and I just felt like I'd lost my creative outlet, closest relationships and reason for being here. It took a minute but I got writing again and found a way to continue releasing music. This EP is a mix of songs I've been holding on to for a while, and songs that helped me get through the last 6-12 months. To me, Viole(n)t Colour feels small, with rough edges, like a pinecone in your pocket, though it has moments of huge self realisation, and potential to grow into the biggest pine in the forest."
The forthcoming release is set to follow a string of EPs – Concrete, Skully, Indigo – and his 2023 debut album, MRI.
VC Pines' music is profoundly influenced by his temporal lobe epilepsy, which manifests as synaesthesia - associating colours and emotions with sounds, chords, and melodies. This condition gives his work a uniquely vivid and sensory-driven quality. As he explains, "In my mind's eye, I'm seeing a cloud or haze of colour. Some people hear something and see a shooting of colour across the room. For me, my favourite moments in music are purple in my head."
Viole(n)t Colour, will be released on 23 May alongside his headline show at Omeara in London.
