Unknown Mortal Orchestra announce forthcoming album, IC-02 Bogotá
Unknown Mortal Orchestra have announced their new album, IC-02 Bogotá, alongside new single, "Earth 1".
IC-02 Bogotá is the latest in the instrumental IC series, following 2018’s IC-01 Hanoi, and follows on from Unknown Mortal Orchestra's fifth studio album, V, which was released in 2023.
In addition to the vocal-based records the band is most known for, the IC series documents time spent in a chosen city while improvising and collaborating on non-vocal instrumental music. Recently, the band spent time in Colombia in order to initiate their new keyboard player, Christian Li, with the resulting sessions at Estudio Naranja becoming IC-02 Bogotá.
Like with IC-01 Hanoi, the album is a musical document, taking its title from the place it was created, and is "possible background music for some strange parties and night drives in your future". The accompanying video for "Earth 1" is comprised of footage shot by Ruban Nielson in Bogotá during recording.
IC-02 Bogotá, will be released on 28 March via Jagjaguwar, and is available to pre-order now.
