Tough Cookie unveil their first release, "Emory"
London's newest four-piece Tough Cookie, formerly known as Daisy Brain, have shared their debut single, "Emory".
Speaking of their debut single under the new moniker, front person August shares: “Emory is about falling for someone way too quickly while at the same time feeling shrouded by doubt towards the situation. It's a simple love song, nothing else to it really.”
The name Tough Cookie – a nod to a Big Thief lyric – carries multiple meanings for the group: “Some people see a ‘tough cookie’ as an underdog, someone resilient in an unforgiving world, and we relate more to that than to any kind of alpha character”.
The band are set to play two nights in the Blue Basement at Third Man Records on 12 and 13 March.
"Emory" is out now via Gravity Records.
