Ticketmaster apologises to Taylor Swift and fans for "terrible experience" trying to buy The Eras Tour tickets

Ticketmaster has shared a blog post apologising to Taylor Swift and her fans for the "terrible experience" while attempting to buy tickets for The Eras Tour.

Last week Ticketmaster cancelled the public sale date for Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour after millions of fans crashed the site, leaving a huge amount of people without tickets, during the pre-sale. Swift responded last Friday (18 November) on socials, saying that she and her team "asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could." Swift also wrote that it "really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them."

Shortly after Swift's statement, Ticketmaster apologised for the "terrible experience" through a blog post. "We strive to make ticket buying as easy as possible for fans, but that hasn’t been the case for many people trying to buy tickets for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. First, we want to apologise to Taylor and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets," Ticketmaster wrote.

As well as apologising, Ticketmaster shared a list of reasons why it didn't go smoothly. As well as sharing statistics on previous pre-sales and how only "40% of invited fans actually show up and buy tickets," Ticketmaster shared a graph of the site traffic for 2022, which showed a steep increase in visits due to the demand for Swift tickets. The pre-sale also resulted in "the most tickets ever sold for an artist in a single day," and Ticketmaster concluded their blog post by confirming that they're "working to shore up our tech for the new bar that has been set by demand" for Swift's tour tickets.

Swift announced The Eras tour at the start of the month. Currently, there's only US dates available with support from Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, Haim, MUNA, girl in red, Beabadoobee, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams and OWENN. She confirmed at the time that "international dates" will be "announced as soon as we can."

Ticketmaster is yet to announce a new general sale date for Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour tickets.
