Three Quarter Skies announce debut album, Fade In
Three Quarter Skies – the new band formed by Simon Scott from Slowdive – have announced their forthcoming debut album, Fade In.
Recorded by Simon Scott and mixed with the help of elusive Flying Saucer Attack main man Dave Pearce, Fade In features eight tracks, including the new single 'Leave A Light On". In addition to the new single, the album features a Nick Drake cover and brand new versions of "Holy Water" and "Pieces Of Roslin", originally released on last year’s introductory EP, Universal Flames.
“It’s about losing hold of reality but then finding the light in the dark when (metaphorically) lost and far away from home,” explains Scott. “Essentially it is a song of longing for peace, love, homesickness and embracing creative freedom to move forward in your life.”
While the EP grew out of a semi-improvised live recording, the new album is a cohesive body of work that came together after a fertile creative period following the death of Simon’s mother earlier this year.
“My creative well was already beginning to overflow and losing my mum pushed me over the edge,” says Simon Scott. “I didn’t want to write pretty tunes, or sentimental and saccharine music about love or pretend how happy and healthy the world is. Three Quarter Skies’ songs are angry, noisy, turbulent, stubborn and petulant.”
Fade In is set for release on 6 September, and is available to pre-order now.
