The Weeknd and Moses Sumney share new songs from HBO’s The Idol
Following the third episode of the HBO series, The Idol, Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye has shared a new batch of songs from the show.
Following on from the previously released tracks such as "World Class Sinner / I'm a Freak", which is performed by Lily Depp's character Jocelyn, "Popular", which features Madonna and Playboi Carti, and The Weeknd's collaboration with Future on "Double Fantasy", three new songs have been unveiled from the soundtrack.
"Get It B4" is written and performed by Moses Sumney, and it's his first release since his 2022 collaboration with Son Lux for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Tesfaye has also shared two of his own releases – "A Lesser Man", which was written with Mike Dean, and "Take Me Back", which features Jason “DaHeala” Quenneville.
Sumney stars in The Idol as Izaak, a musician and devout follower of Tesfaye’s character Tedros. Troye Sivan, Blackpink’s Jennie Kim, and Mike Dean, also star in the series.
Tesfaye recently responded to the viral sex scene from episode two of the series, stating that everything was written in a way to be uncomfortable, and they're intentionally trying to provoke a reaction out of the audience. "With this show, we love to play with the emotions. We’re puppet-mastering your feelings through the show," he says.
Earlier this year, he revealed that he forgot how to sing, due to acting in The Idol, and playing a character that doesn't know how to sing.
