The The rework 1993 track on new release, "Slow Emotion Replayed"
The The have announced details of the release of new single, "Slow Emotion Replayed" – a re-worked version of "Slow Emotion Replay" from their 1993 album, Dusk.
Matt Johnson has a penchant for covering and reinventing his own songs as with "This Is The Day", "Infected", "Armageddon Day" and others. The original version of "Slow Emotion Replay", appeared on Dusk, released in 1993. This new version, "Slow Emotion Replayed" was recorded in Studio Cinéola, London, featuring Matt Johnson on Omnichord and vocals, Barrie Cadogan on electric guitar and backing vocals, James Eller on bass and Gillian Glover also providing backing vocals.
The sleeve features exclusive, previously-unpublished artwork by Matt’s late brother Andrew aka Andy Dog who, over the years, was very much responsible for the distinctive aesthetic style of THE THE’s releases.
The release will be available from 11 July as a limited edition 7” vinyl single as well as an exclusive limited edition CD single. The latter format is a vinyl-look CD with "Slow Emotion Replayed" and its corresponding B-side "Crow Commotion Displayed" plus four additional tracks which first appeared as B-sides on The The’s recent 7” vinyl singles released 2020-24: "When Is The Heart Of Waiting", "Mycelium Muse", "Frozen Clouds", "Velvet Muscle Scream".
