The cast of Mean Girls have reunited alongside Missy Elliot in an advert for Walmart
Nearly two decades after its release, the cast of Mean Girls – Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert – have reunited in a Black Friday advert alongside Missy Elliott.
Missy Elliott’s 2003 single “Pass That Dutch” soundtracks a memorable montage in Mean Girls, and also features in the Walmart commercial.
The stars of Mean Girls play adults who are still involved in North Shore High School, with their children who make reference to some of the iconic moments in the film, including the infamous Christmas dance scene, Mrs. George as a proud mum with a camcorder, and catchphrases such as "fetch", and "on Wednesdays we wear pink". As for Missy Elliott, she stars in the advert as a gym teacher who is trying to teach the students about Walmart deals.
Missy Elliott is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame today (3 November) alongside Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Rage Against the Machine, George Michael, and more.
The organisers behind the ceremony have underlined how the new class reflected “the diverse artists and sounds that define rock & roll.” In a statement accompanying the induction announcement, John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said, “We are honoured that this November’s induction ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop.”
The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place this evening (3 November) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. For more information, visit rockhall.com.
