The Breeders announce UK and European tour with Big Joanie
Following on from the 30th anniversary of their landmark album, Last Splash, The Breeders have announced details of a UK and European summer tour, for their first live shows over the pond since 2018.
The Breeders – comprising of the classic line-up of Kim Deal (vocals, guitar), Kelley Deal (guitar, vocals), Josephine Wiggs (bass, vocals) and Jim Macpherson (drums, vocals) – will return to the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain this June and July, with a date at the Troxy in London on 25 June.
There are also two dates off in the tour which coincide with Glastonbury Festival 2024, leading to speculation that the band may return to the festival for the first time since they performed on the Pyramid stage in 1992.
To coincide with the announcement, the band has released an animated short for their cover of Guided By Voices’ "Shocker in Gloomtown" created by Jesse Peretz with animation from Jon Carling.
Last year, The Breeders released Last Splash (the 30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition) which spanned two 12-inch vinyl discs, plus an exclusive, one-sided etched 12-inch disc containing two forgotten tracks from the original Last Splash sessions: "Go Man Go" and "Divine Mascis" – a version of "Divine Hammer" with lead vocals provided courtesy of Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis.
Tickets go on sale this Friday 2 February at 10am local time. For ticket information and details on pre-sale periods, visit thebreedersmusic.com.
