Tapir! announce their debut album, The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain
South-London-based six-piece Tapir! have shared the video for "My God" and announced details of the release of their album, The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain.
Produced and engineered by Hywel Pryer and Honeyglaze’s drummer Yuri Shibuichi and citing a host of artists from Eiko Ishibashi to Jim O’Rourke as discrete inspirations, "My God" is the first track to be taken from the Act III EP, the final of the three acts which make up their debut album.
"Written during lockdown, "My God" intends to promote persistence to carry on even when the world feels rotten," says Ike Gray. "Whilst it highlights issues in the world such as commercialism, natural & man-made disasters it isn’t intended to be a criticism of religion but more so an open conversation about faith - whatever that may be for an individual. At the end of the day, we all have something we believe in to help us push through."
The track is also accompanied by a mixed-media video directed by Los Angeles based artist collective Everything Is Terrible which visually tells the tale behind the song with a mixture of found footage and playful Claymation.
Act III follows on from Act 1 (The Pilgrim) and Act 2 (Their God). The three act EPs will be packaged together to make up Tapir!'s debut album.
