Shout Out Louds announce 20th anniversary show playing debut album in full
Swedish band Shout Out Louds have announced a special show at The Dome where they'll be performing their debut album, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, in full to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The album was first in Scandinavia during 2003 (Bud Fox Recordings) and then was given a full international release in 2005. The album was recorded in a tiny studio in northern Stockholm, and included indie hits such as ”Please Please Please”, ”Very Loud” and ”The Comeback”.
Celebrating the album and that debut period of their career, Shout Out Louds decided to put some European shows on sale playing the Howl Howl Gaff Gaff album in its entirety, with all shows selling out immediately! This sparked the idea of doing some re-recordings of a couple of those early songs, which resulted in the five-track EP, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff (Revisited); released earlier this year. The band will now return to London for their first show in seven years.
"20 years ago, our debut album 'Howl Howl Gaff Gaff' took us on a journey all over the world. We played the same songs every night for about 4 years, and some of those songs are still on every one of our set lists," the band says.
"For us, performing a song live causes it to change over time. In the setting of a concert, through the human element of an audience, many of our songs have found their truest form, and we are sometimes taken by surprise when we go back to the recordings. With this EP we wanted to explore two things; what the songs would sound like if they had been recorded "today", and what 20 years of live performances does to a song. We ́re thrilled (and relieved) that the sincerity that shaped these songs back in the day was still there, with the same intensity.
Shout Out Louds will play at The Dome, London on 16 November. Tickets are on sale from 10am on 12 June via formpresents.com.
