Shannon Lay unveils cover of Nick Drake's "From The Morning"
Shannon Lay has released a second outing from her upcoming album Covers Vol. 1, and it's a cover of Nick Drake's "From The Morning".
After announcing Covers Vol. 1 with her version of Elliott Smith's "Angeles" last month, Shannon Lay has delivered a second taster of the new album, which is a cover of Nick Drake's Pink Moon song "From The Morning".
Lay wrote on Instagram that "From The Morning" is "one of my favourites off Pink Moon and I decided to add a John Fahey twist to "Horn" at the end for all the real heads out there."
Covers Vol. 1 will follow 2021's Geist album, and will also feature covers of songs by Ty Segall, the Velvet Underground, Arthur Russell, Vashti Bunyan and more.
Last year Gretel Hänlyn covered the same Elliott Smith song live in session exclusively for Best Fit at Crouch End Studios.
Shannon Lay's cover of Nick Drake's "From The Morning" is out now. Her Covers Vol. 1 album will arrive on 14 April via Sub Pop.
