Sam Smith joins Beverly Glenn-Copeland for a rendition of “Ever New”
Red Hot have shared “Ever New” by Beverly Glenn-Copeland and Sam Smith, as the latest preview of the organisation’s new project, TRAИƧA.
The new recording of Glenn-Copeland’s song “Ever New,” originally released as the opening track to his seminal 1986 album Keyboard Fantasies, is refreshed with Sam Smith's vocals.
“When I wrote ‘Ever New’ I had no idea it would touch so many hearts over so many decades,” shares Glenn-Copeland. “I cried last year when a fan wrote to tell me that they played ‘Ever New’ for the birth of their child. Now, this collaboration with the genius that is Sam Smith is actual proof that our lives are, indeed, made ever new.” Smith adds: “It was a true honour and privilege to be in a room with such a beautiful soul in Glenn to record this legendary and very special song with him. It's a moment in time I will never forget and I am so happy to have been a part of this wonderful project.”
One of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken by the storied activist and music production non-profit, TRAИƧA is a spiritual journey across eight chapters and 46 songs with over 100 artists contributing. The project spotlights the gifts of many trans and non-binary artists.
Red Hot has also announced TRAИƧA: Selects, a vinyl and digital release featuring selections from the larger project, including songs from Sade, André 3000, Lauren Auder + Wendy & Lisa, L’Rain featuring the NYC Trans Oral History Project, as well as the release from Beverly Glenn-Copeland & Sam Smith.
TRAИƧA, is due for release on 22 November. For more information on the project, visit transa.world.
