Paul McCartney shares photo essay and reflects on headlining Glastonbury Festival
Paul McCartney has shared a series of backstage, rehearsal and performance photos from his Glastonbury Festival headline set, and reflected on the 2022 set.
Yesterday (19 December) Paul McCartney shared a series of images from the build-up to, and during his Glastonbury Festival 2022 headline set on BBC, and also wrote a short piece reflecting on the performance, and how the festival being delayed due to Covid meant it "became more important to pull it off."
"I'd asked Bruce Springsteen in 2020 if he'd be happy to come onboard and he said yes, and he kept his promise two years later. So that was very exciting, having him and Dave Grohl up on the stage," McCartney wrote. "It's a pretty impressive scene for people in the audience, but we get the whole view up on the stage with the flags and the hills going back forever, so it was quite a big deal that they said yes to joining me in that experience."
He concluded, "Then you've got the spirituality of the place, knowing about the ley lines and everything else. When you have an event like Glastonbury and everyone comes together with good vibes and energy, I'm very happy to be part of that."
McCartney also recalled his "I've Got a Feeling" performance featuring John Lennon's vocals, saying, "That is so special for me. I know it's virtual, but there I am singing with John again. We're back together."
Elton John is the first headliner to be announced for Glastonbury 2023, which will return to Worthy Farm from 21-25 June 2023.
