Our Girl sign to Bella Union and release new single, "Relief"
London-based trio Our Girl have announced their signing to Bella Union alongside the release of the brand new single, "Relief".
The track speaks to the life-giving importance of queer community; a sentiment reflected in the chorus of friends’ voices accompanying singer/songwriter Soph Nathan.
Commenting on the track, Nathan says: “This is a love song to queer people having a hard time of it. It takes time to unlearn things we were taught to believe, and to feel wholly proud in the face of people and expectations that are often working against you. This song is about my experience of moving through that, and celebrating how I feel now.”
Our Girl have announced a number of upcoming live dates including a headline show at The Lexington in London on 5 June and appearances at The Great Escape in Brighton and Wanderlust festival in Southampton next month.
Stepping into a production role for the first time, on their latest body of work, Soph Nathan recalls: “Working on this record taught me to trust my gut. I realised that we needed to make it sound and feel exactly how we wanted, otherwise what’s the point?” Lauren Wilson, who completes the line up alongside Josh Tyler, continues: “It feels more confident to me… a lot more considered, we’ve had time and space to write.”
