Offset announces new music in a spoof James Brown interview alongside Jamie Lee Curtis
In a video which references James Brown's 1988 CNN interview, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis playing the role of reporter Sonya Friedman, Offset teases new music.
On Monday evening (24 July), the Migos rapper took to his socials to share the parody video, with the caption: "Y’all ready for some new music???….JEALOUSY!!”
As well as revealing that he's about to release some new music, Offset also took a moment to laugh off reports of cheating between him and his wife Cardi B.
The clip begins with Curtis posing the question that there's drama between himself and Cardi B. Echoing Brown in the famous interview, he laughs off the question. The pair awkwardly go back and forth, before Offset says, "Let's talk about some music". The interview then cuts off, with a message across the screen reading "July 28th" – the apparent release date of his forthcoming song.
In the now-famous interview, Brown appeared on CNN’s news program Sonya Live in April 1988 after being released on bail following an arrest for allegedly hitting his then-wife Adrienne Lois Rodriguez. As Friedman attempted to discuss the status of his relationship, Brown began to sing and steer the conversation towards his upcoming tour stops and music.
Following Offset’s since-deleted social media post last month in which he claimed Cardi B cheated on him (she posted a clip in response, after singing Keyshia Cole’s “I Should Have Cheated”), the Migos rapper shared the stage with her during his Rolling Loud performance in Miami. Offset welcomed Cardi B on stage to perform their tracks, “Motorsport” and “Clout".
Offset has released a string of collaborative singles, including "New To You" featuring Normani, Tinashe, but this appears to be his first solo venture since "54321", which was released last year, and was produced by Baby Keem.
Offset's forthcoming single, "Jealousy", is due to be released on Friday (28 July).
