New Björk: Sonic Symbolism podcast gets first trailer
The first trailer for Björk's upcoming Talkhouse podcast Sonic Symbolism has been shared ahead of the first three episodes launching next week.
Björk: Sonic Symbolism is a podcast series created and hosted by Björk about the "textures, timbres and emotional landscapes that characterised the creation of each of her albums".
Ahead of the first three episodes launching next week, Mailchimp Presents and Talkhouse have shared a trailer for the podcast. Björk says in the trailer, "Most of us go through phases in our lives that take roughly three years, and it is not a coincidence that this is often how long it takes to make an album, a book or a film."
"In the conversations on this podcast, me and my friends try to capture which moods, timbres, and tempos were vibrating during each of my 10 albums," Björk continues. "
She adds, "When I get asked about the differences of the music of my records, I find it quickest to use visual short cuts. That's kind of why my album covers are almost like homemade tarot cards. The image on the front might seem like just a visual moment, but for me it is simply describing the sound of it. I try to express this with the colour palette, the textures of the textiles, with what I am holding, and the angle of the posture I'm in shows its relationship to the world. Also, the emotion of the mouth tries to share the overall mood of the album. Perhaps you can call it some sort of a sonic symbolism?"
The first three episodes of Björk: Sonic Symbolism focusing on her Debut, Post and Homogenic albums will be released on 1 September, with other episodes following weekly until 13 October.
