Morrissey reveals that Johnny Marr ignored an offer for The Smiths reunion tour
In a new message posted on his official website, Morrissey has shot down all hopes for a The Smiths reunion.
In light of Oasis finally getting back together, the internet has been throwing around suggestions for many other dissolved bands to reunite. Unfortunately, The Smiths won't be one of them.
"In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025," Morrissey revealed. "Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer."

As for what the pair are up to these days, he continued: "Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November. Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order."
Two years ago, speaking to BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright, Marr addressed his recent interactions with former Smiths bandmate Morrissey, telling Wright that there's "zero" chance of Marr working or having a personal relationship with Morrissey. Marr also said the last time they spoke properly was "18 or maybe 15" years ago.
Johnny Marr + the Healers recently announced a special edition reissue of their first ever album, Boomslang, which is due for release on 20 September via BMG, and is available to pre-order now.
