Watch Master Peace put a spin on Blur for his secret session at End of the Road Festival
South London future-pop innovator Master Peace tackled Blur's iconic "Song 2" at last year's End of the Road Festival - and brought an entire crowd to their feet in the process.
The song – taken from the beloved British band's eponymous fifth album, and mashed with Master Peace's very own "Groundhog Day" – was part of Best Fit's secret sessions, which also saw performances from Gruff Rhys and Bill Ryder-Jones, Yo La Tengo, Ichiko Aoba, Clarissa Connelly, Jeffrey Martin, Sarah Meth, Jess Williamson and Julianna Riolino. Watch the cover in full below.
Peace Okezie's currently riding a wave in his career, after winning an Ivor Novello Award for Rising Star last year and joining Franz Ferdinand (and Peter Capaldi) onstage at Glastonbury this summer. Next Friday's he's set to drop new track "Harley", produced by Dan Carey.
Best Fit's secret sessions have become a key part of End of the Road each year, bringing together artists from across the line-up in a series of short sets, exlusive cover, collaborations, and live interviews and Q&As. Past guests have included Lucy Dacus, St Vincent, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Moses Sumney, Laura Marling, Patti Smith, and Frightened Rabbit - who played a now iconic version of "The Modern Leper".
End of the Road Festival returns next month with a lineup that includes Self Esteem, Caribou, Sharon Van Etten and Father John Misty - and tickets are now sold out!
Resale tickets for End of the Road Festival will be available in August via fan-to-fan ticket platform Twickets, the festival's official resale partner.
