Liz Truss resignation montages soundtracked by Taylor Swift and Rihanna
BBC and Channel 4's montages for the outgoing UK Prime Minister Liz Truss were soundtracked by Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
Yesterday (20 October) Liz Truss resigned after just 44 days, making her the shortest-serving Prime Minister in UK history, and last night (20 October), some montages of her career were aired on BBC's Newsnight and Channel 4 news with some pretty bold music choices.
Channel 4 opted for Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" to soundtrack their tribute, just hours before Swift released her tenth album Midnights. According to the introduction of the montage, "Blank Space" is Truss' "favourite song".

BBC's Newsnight chose to go for a more emotional soundtrack, choosing Rihanna's "Take A Bow", which was actually quite fitting, as they chose to use clips of people applauding to the opening line "Oh, how 'bout a round of applause?", as well as Liz Truss announcing her resignation outside 10 Downing Street while Rihanna sings "You look so dumb right now / Standin' outside my house / Tryin' to apologise."
