A few shortlists for the 2023 Academy Awards have been revealed, including Best Original Song and Best Original Score. Voters selected the 15 scores and 15 songs that made up the shortlists earlier this month, and they'll be narrowed down to five nominees in each category. 147 scores and 82 songs were entered, evaluated and declared eligible for the 2023 Oscars.
The 2023 Best Original Song shortlist features LCD Soundsystem's first new song in five years, "New Body Rhumba", which featured in Netflix's White Noise, as well as Son Lux's Everything Everywhere All at Once song "This Is a Life" featuring Mitski and David Byrne. The shortlist also includes Taylor Swift's Where the Crawdads Sing track, as well as other songs by Rihanna, The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Jazmine Sullivan, Giveon and more.
Son Lux have also been shortlisted for the Best Original Score Oscar for Everything Everywhere All at Once, alongside Ludwig Göransson's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever score, Hildur Guðnadóttir's score for Women Talking, Simon Franglen's score for Avatar: The Way of Water, and other scores for Nope, Don't Worry Darling, The Woman King and more.
