Young Fathers team with Leith Congregational Choir for new track "Only God Knows"
Young Fathers have shared their new single "Only God Knows" featuring the Leith Congregational Choir, which appears on the T2 Trainspotting OST.
The acclaimed alt. hip-hop group were a dead cert for the new soundtrack, weren't they? Considering their geographical links (they're from where the film/book is set) and the fact they're one of the brightest, politically charged groups in the UK, it was more a matter of 'how many tracks' as opposed to 'will they be on it'. As it turns out, they've got six cuts in the film.
"Trainspotting, the original book, is like a modern Ulysses," says director Danny Boyle. "It’s unsurpassed I think, and reading it is still like the ‘rush of ocean to the heart’. You're always looking for the heartbeat of a film. For Trainspotting it was Underworld's 'Born Slippy'. For T2 It's Young Fathers. Their songs are my heartbeat for the film. And 'Only God Knows' is that rush again. The ocean. The heart."
As well as "Only God Knows", Young Fathers have contributed "Low", "No Way", "Dare Me", "Get Up", and "Rain Or Shine" to the movie.
