World's first levitating turntable could soon be yours
Slovenian company Mag-Lev Audio has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help bring the feeling of zero gravity to every living room through “the first levitating turntable”.
Mag-Lev Audio is hoping to raise $300,000 to assemble these futuristic turntables in an attempt to cater for people who appreciate superior quality sound and “innovative design”.
The company claim that they “were able to integrate the uplifting experience of music into the turntable design itself, bringing the feeling of zero gravity into your living room.” The turntables use a magnetic plate to keep the vinyl record afloat during playback and have in-built sensor regulating software to ensure the most precise turns of the platter.
Although the technology is patented, Mag-Lev is not without its competition. McIntosh MT5, Clear Audio, Hanss Acoustics and Vyger all offer similar suspension systems based around a magnet.
The Kickstarter campaign ends 21 November with the first batch of deliveries estimated for August 2017.
