Ezra Koenig played new Vampire Weekend tracks from his phone at the Lollapalooza aftershow
Vampire Weekend headlined Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival on Sunday, but waited until the aftershow to give fans a taste of their new album.
It's been full steam ahead since Vampire Weekend made their live comeback in June at California's Ojai, where they teased a Steve Lacey collaboration.
Their live performances across the summer have seen the band dish out some great covers, including Dusty Springfield's "Son of the Preacher Man", The Velvet Underground's "Sunday Morning", and a cover of Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town" with Danielle Haim.
On Sunday (5 August) Vampire Weekend headlined Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival. Stereogum reported that frontman Koenig announced to the crowd that their LP4 is finished and currently being mastered.
Vampire Weekend didn't perform any new tracks at Lollapalooza, but during their aftershow at Chicago's Metro club Koenig plugged his phone into the aux and gave fans a taste of their forthcoming album.
According to a Reddit user, "Ezra plugged his phone into the house speakers and debuted five new songs while he sat on a speaker and watched the crowds reactions. He then played one new song with the band before moving on to "Mansard Roof" and "Walcott" to close ya out."
Despite the show holding a no phones policy, one picture has surfaced online of Koenig sat on stage.
