Torres heads into first place with "Sprinter"
Torres has unveiled the title track from upcoming second record Sprinter.
It doesn't screech past at 100mph, but rather coasts by at a menacing pace, allowing you to explore the nuances in the alt. country Southern Gothic and hymnal threads, as well as Scott's canny way with words.
The track is a prime example of the new album's themes, including the overarching question of faith and religion: "My pastor told us, 'Don’t you worry/even Zaccheaus Found his glory'/ I was a sprinter then/living to see it end/well pastor lost his position/went down for pornography..."
Torres' sophomore LP Sprinter is available 18 May on Partisan Records. It was written and recorded in Bridport, Dorset, and at the Bristol studio of Portishead's Adrian Utley.
