Tom Odell knocks Kanye West off UK Albums Chart top spot
Tom Odell, the Brits Critics Choice winner and BBC Sound poll longlister, has shot to the top spot of the UK Albums Chart this weekend.
Odell released his previously-delayed first full-length Long Way Down on Monday via Columbia, winning increased press coverage when his father reportedly phoned up the NME offices to complain about writer Mark Beaumont’s review.
In reaching the number one spot with his debut, Odell ends Kanye West’s short stay at the top of the charts, with Yeezus dropping down to number six.
Elsewhere, Rod Stewart’s Time comes in at second place, but was still outsold two to one by Odell.
Odell marked the occasion by playing two sets at Glastonbury Festival earlier today, one at the John Peel Stage and one at the BBC Introducing tent.
