Tom Grennan shares uplifting new single "Something Better"

20 November 2020, 16:22 | Written by Cerys Kenneally

Tom Grennan is back with the playful "Something Better", which is lifted from his upcoming second album Evering Road.

"Something Better" follows Grennan's "Amen" release that dropped last month, and will feature on Evering Road alongside earlier singles "Oh Please" and "This Is The Place".

Grennan says of his new release, "When I wrote "Something Better", it was a song about me smiling on the outside but dealing with a whirlwind of dark thoughts and distractions on the inside. Since Covid-19 and lockdown, the tables have turned! I’m smiling on the inside, and I’m constantly distracted with thoughts of the exciting, crazy and better future that is coming, and it’s just around the corner."

Evering Road will follow his 2018 debut album Lighting Matches, and is produced by Dan Grech (Liam Gallagher, Lana Del Rey), Eg White (Adele, Amy Winehouse, Sam Smith), Mark Ralph (Hot Chip, Plan B), Charlie Hugall (Florence + the Machine, Ed Sheeran), Lostboy (Anne Marie) and Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse).

Grennan says of his sophomore LP, "This album has been such a therapeutic experience, it has helped me through one of the toughest times of my life. Evering Road documents a transitional stage for me, where I felt I’ve learnt so much and grown into a new man, moving myself into a new calm and positive space. Gospel and soul have been a huge influence on me during this album, for me it’s so emotional yet uplifting, and I wanted to translate this DNA through my music. I’m just BUZZING for people to hear it, so hopefully it can be a lifeboat of sorts for at least one person."

"Something Better" is out now. Tom Grennan's Evering Road album will land via Insanity Records on 5 March 2021, and is available to pre-order now.
