Thom Yorke shares new track "Hands Off The Antarctic" with 3D projection on London's Marble Arch
Thom Yorke's new track "Hands Off The Antarctic" is revealed with a 3D-projection onto London's Marble Arch, and supports Greenpeace's campaign to create an off-limits area for animals called the Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary.
The haunting track arrives with monochrome visuals shot during Greenpeace's research expedition earlier this year, displaying the sheer beauty of Antarctica, and the need to unite behind their Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary campaign for the Earth's biggest animal sanctuary to date.
Speaking about his new offering, Thom Yorke explains, “There are some places on this planet that are meant to stay raw and wild and not destroyed by humanity's footprint. This track is about stopping the relentless march of those heavy footsteps. The Antarctic is a true wilderness and what happens there affects us all. That's why we should protect it.”
With over two million backers already, Greenpeace want to provide a safe haven for penguins, seals, whales and more in an area five times the size of Germany.
To launch the new track, Thom Yorke and Greenpeace teamed up to project an awe-inspiring 3D visual on London landmark Marble Arch. You can watch the stream over on Greenpeace's Facebook page.
The campaign gains momentum as it reaches the final weeks before the Antarctic Ocean Commission meets in Hobart, Tasmania, between 22 October and 2 November.
