The Weeknd says new album "should be done by the end of this month"
The Weeknd has given an update on his new album (reportedly titled The Dawn Is Coming), saying it "should be done by the end of this month."
Earlier this month The Weeknd kicked off his new era with "Take My Breath", and after stating in a recent GQ interview that the new album is "the album I’ve always wanted to make", Abel Tesfaye has revealed it's nearly finished.
When asked about his follow-up to last year's After Hours (which fans think is called The Dawn Is Coming), The Weeknd told The Hollywood Reporter, "Yeah, I’m finishing the new album right now. It should be done by the end of this month and we’re just kind of figuring out when to put it out. It’s been really cool because I’m working on this album this summer simultaneously with the writer’s room for the new TV show. So, I’ve been kind of going back and forth from finishing the album and pending up the show that we’re going to start shooting soon. It’s been quite a summer."
The Weeknd also chose to "plead the fifth" when asked about what "cool collaborations" he's got coming up.
Tesfaye will make a second appearance on Belly's See You Next Wednesday album out tomorrow (27 August), following last month's Young Thug collaboration "Better Believe".
He also appeared on a song that Kanye West played during a recent Donda listening party. The third, and possibly final Donda listening event takes place tonight (26 August) in Chicago, and hopefully Kanye West will finally release the album after.
