The Vaccines announce new EP with opening track "Disaster Girl"
The Vaccines have returned with news of their upcoming EP Planet Of The Youth, and have shared the opening song "Disaster Girl" to accompany the announcement.
"Disaster Girl" is the second outing from The Vaccines' new EP, following last month's "Thunder Fever" single. Lead vocalist Justin Young reveals the title was inspired by "seeing the NFT of the original 'Disaster Girl' meme sell for $500,000."
Young adds, "It all seemed very apocalyptic to me and fit in with this strange world of the planet of the youth that I was starting to build in my head. When you first hear it sung, "Disaster Girl" sounds like some kind of superhero, but when you realise there is a comma between the two words then the meaning obviously flips. Sometimes we're our own worst enemies in our most meaningful relationships but we don't see it until everything has gone up in flames."
Planet Of The Youth will follow The Vaccines' 2021 fifth album Back In Love City, and was recorded at The Pool with producer Fryars (Mark Ronson, Pharrell), and was mixed by Matt Wiggins (Glass Animals, Florence + The Machine).
