Superchunk announce first album in four years and link with Teenage Fanclub on "Endless Summer"
Superchunk are back with news of their first album in four years Wild Loneliness, and have teamed up with Teenage Fanclub on the lead single "Endless Summer".
"Endless Summer" is Superchunk's first new material since last year's "There's A Ghost" and "Alice" tracks, and sees them recruit Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley for harmonies.
The track is available on a limited 7" single with a cover of The Glands’ "When I Laugh".
Superchunk's Mac McCaughan said of the track, ""Endless Summer" was written on New Year’s Day 2020 which was unseasonably warm here in North Carolina. Of course, by the time we recorded it, "Endless Summer" had other meanings… The 7” sleeve features Roe Ethridge’s beautiful photos of broken beach umbrellas which capture the vibe of the song perfectly."
The new single will appear on Superchunk's Wild Loneliness album, which will follow 2018's What a Time to Be Alive.
Wild Loneliness will also feature appearances from Sharon Van Etten, R.E.M.’s Mike Mills, Wye Oak’s Andy Stack, Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura, Owen Pallett, Kelly Pratt, and Franklin Bruno.
